A man with an acute abdomen

Abstract

A 40-year-old-factory worker was seen at the primary careclinic for severe abdominal pain of 3 hours duration. He had along history of chronic backache and knee pain, and he usedto ingest mefenamic acid for relief. Examination of theabdomen revealed a rigid abdomen associated with guarding.Bowel sounds were absent. He was admitted to hospital andan emergency surgery was performed on him. (copied from article)
